Folk music has been in my life for as long as I can remember. As a kid I grew up listening to my mother's record collection of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Neil Young and Joan Baez. All those memories of the old record needle skipping over scratches and dust while playing the most amazing music.

Skip forward 40 years and I've returned to where it all started. This is a selection of folk songs which I have written over the past 2-3 years which will feature on the ETC's debut album.

For these songs I have used the amazing young vocalist Rachel Clarke. I met Rachel in 2019 when I was wandering through the local mall and I heard someone singing Christmas songs. I was so captivated by her voice that I approached her about doing some gigs with me. From there we began playing regularly at bars, restaurants and events.

I think she really suits this type of music as her voice is reminiscent of folk artists like Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, and it has been a pleasure writing songs for her to sing.

This collection of songs will be released as an album in November 2021.

'Gordontown' ( Ed Taylor )

This is a song I wrote in August 2021. It is a very simple song with just guitar, vocals and harmonica, but is one of my favorites. The stunning vocals are performed by Auckland singer, Rachel Clarke.

'Here You Are' ( Ed Taylor )

This is a song which I wrote in 2018. Again it features the amazing vocalist Rachel Clarke, and is a song about the difficulties of overcoming addictions, whatever they may be.
