Coming Home is a selection of folk songs that I have written over the past 2-3 years and is the ETC's debut album, to be released in February 2022.

Folk music has been in my life for as long as I can remember. As a kid I grew up listening to my mother's record collection of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Neil Young and Joan Baez. All those memories of the old record needle skipping over scratches and dust while playing the most amazing music.

Skip forward 40 years and I've returned to where it all started, hence the name, Coming Home.

​

For these songs, I have used two amazing young vocalists, Rachel Clarke and Manuela Ovalle Herrera.

 

I met Rachel in 2019 when I was wandering through the local shopping mall and I heard someone singing Christmas songs. I was so captivated by her voice that I approached her about doing some gigs with me. From there we began playing regularly at bars, restaurants, and events.

I think she really suits this type of music as her voice is reminiscent of folk artists like Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, and it has been a pleasure writing songs for her to sing.

​I also met Manuela in 2019 when I was looking for singers to play with me at a regular bar gig I had.​

​

Manuela immigrated to New Zealand from Colombia with her family as a young child and lives in West Auckland. In 2018 she completed a music degree at the University of Auckland in vocal performance and guitar.

​

Manuela has an incredibly emotional voice and is a vibrant performer. She may be small but she has a large presence.
